Las Lenas is definitely the most important ski resort in Argentina. It is located in the province of Mendoza and the scenery here in amazing. Surrounded by the Central Andes high peaks – easily reaching 16,000 ft. – Las Lenas is a real desert area where skiing and snowboarding happens all above tree line. Based on location and altitude the snow conditions here are excellent. As it is a pretty high resort – base is located at 11,200 ft. – the snow remains dry for days.
The fastest way to access Las Lenas is flying from Buenos Aires into San Rafael – commercial flights – or Malargue – chartered flights. You can also fly into Mendoza either from BA or from Santiago de Chile. The ride will be quite long though.

When it comes to terrain Las Lenas features the best and most challenging one in all South America. The combination of on-piste, inbounds off-piste and backcountry areas make this resort a world class destination. For those looking for deep powder and advanced-expert – hardcore too – terrain Las Lenas features the largest lift-accesses off-piste terrain in the Andes with more than 200,000 acres. From wide open bowls to crazy-narrow chutes the options are endless.

Las Lenas season goes from mid June to mid October. If you have already reviewed our tours and programs you will note most of them are scheduled for August and September. In fact we believe these two months feature excellent conditions. August offers an average of 80% of sunny days and snow is deep and dry. When you get into September temperatures start to increase and by mid September corn conditions arrive. Corn skiing during the last 10 days is usually fantastic. As this resort is located in the high Andes June also offers great conditions but the snowpack may not be as thick as it will be in August and late in the season. July has great snow and really low temperatures but keep in mind during the last three weeks of July local and Brazilian holidays take place meaning more people on the mountains, longer lines and also higher rates.

Las Lenas ski resort offers a range of accommodation options from deluxe to standard hotels and apartments. Even when we work with all accommodation options we strongly recommend the Virgo and Piscis hotels as the best two options. The Acuario, Aries and Escorpio hotels come next in our selection. Regarding apartments please do not expect the condominiums available in the US or Canada. All apartments are really standard except from Villa Capricornio ones that are better equipped and decoration is nicer.

During the day skiing and snowboarding are the main things – and maybe the only ones – you need to do. In addition you can go for half or a full day of snowcat skiing. And hopefully heli-skiing will be available this season too. If you are up for the challenge hire one of our guides and get to access the hidden spots at this awesome place.
Las Lenas ski resorts sets the standard for night and social life in South America. It offers several restaurants and bars as well as a casino, discos and pubs. Food here is fantastic. In fact there is a true rich food culture in Argentina and Las Lenas is no exception. There are several events throughout the season including the Argentina wine week, the Las Lenas fashion show, extreme skiing competitions and more!

Las Lenas is our home resort. Over the years we have discovered that the options are truly endless. We usually recommend this area for skiers and boarders that are looking for advanced and expert terrain, that are willing to go hiking and want to challenge themselves. Almost all of our tours and programs visit this area and it always offers something special for everyone.
For those intermediate skiers and riders looking for their first off-piste experience Las Lenas has many great options as there are a lot of off-piste possibilities right off the groomers that need no hike access and end back at the resort.
The combination of fantastic skiing, great service, a really active nightlife and delicious cuisine gives Las Lenas a well-deserved “Top Destination” status.
